AFAIK, there are 2 circuits that you don't use with an aftermarket radio in a WJ. One is for a power antenna and the other dims the radio display when the headlights are on.

Could you clarify the question and wire colors please. Following is a link for wiring descriptions for the 2000 WJ. http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/1228.html

A quality radio usually has options for auto-antenna, auto-dimmer, and trigger wire for amplifier.

You have to connect the amplifier turn-on wires together on both the wiring harness adapter you buy and the wiring harness that comes with your aftermarket radio, or else you'll get no sound at all. There is NO power antenna wire, so that won't need to be connected, and the dimmer for the factory radio is controlled internally within the factory radio's circuitry, so that wire WON'T have to be connected either, but you'll have to control dimming of the aftermarket radio's screen and buttons via the aftermarket radio itself (it will no longer dim with the headlamp/interior lighting control stalk).

Another thing to note is that your steering wheel radio controls on the back of the steering wheel WON'T work anymore with an aftermarket radio UNLESS an Axxess interface is purchased. You connect the wires from the Axxess interface to the wires that control the steering wheel radio controls, and then, while pressing the button on the Axxess interface (which is a little black box that sits behind the aftermarket radio and watching the LED light on the interface according to the manual (while the interface identifies which aftermarket radio you've installed, and what type of vehicle it's being programmed to), rapidly hit the volume up button on the back of the steering wheel until programmed. Without the interface, the factory steering wheel radio controls become useless once an aftermarket radio is installed, but you have to figure out whether you find yourself using those controls or not, because if you don't, it's not worth the $50-$60 for the Axxess interface.

Hope this helps.

You're basically outta luck if you want to keep the 10-disc changer when you install an aftermarket radio, there's NO way to keep it unlike the steering wheel controls.
