Help keep blowing fuse for brake taillights.can't put shifter in drive.

OK thankyou everyone for your input.Question this looks to complicated I don't want to bring it to the dealer but looks like I have no choice.Does anybody know if this I'd a big repair cost or will they be able to find it quickly with the rite tools.Any input would be greatly appreciated. If you're going to the dealer, pretty much everything is expensive. Hope you get your problem worked out.

Thanks I just hope its not 1000 repair to locate a short in the wiring.

The minimum will be a $100 diagnostic charge, then whatever labor and parts are involved in the fix.

Thank you everybody that commented. Brought it to my friend shop.The problem was melted wires before the brake switch.The only problem you have to take out the dashboard to fix.He told me 150 could of been a lot worse.

He told me because of the melting that happened in the rear tailight over time strain on those wires little by little they started to melt.Then one day all is a sudden which happened to me last week.It shorted out the brake fuse.

It seems to me the 15 amp fuse should have blown before melting the wires. JMHO.

I wish I knew.Just hope it doesn't happen again. Was lucky it didn't melt the whole wiring harness in the dash.
