Grand Cherokee Ask the Question Thread
New to this site and new to the wj "had an xj for 3 yrs before this" anywho hope this is a good place to ask for some advice. My 2004 wj 4.0 with 120k on it now has been having a strange problem. It has a serious serious lack of power when starting from a standstill on steeper hills, most noticeably in reverse. I can floor the accelerator to the ground but the rpms will only jump to about 1500 and I won't move anywhere...sometimes on bad logging rds and such I will have to back down to something less steep and get some momentum. Engine sounds perfectly healthy while this is happening and drives just fine otherwise. Replaced the fuel filter, checked coils and air filter... mechanic scanned for codes, as well as a tranny shop and found nothing....anyone have any clue what this could be?

Hey guys I don't know if this the place for the question I have about my 2000 jeep charokee laredo 4.7l v8 I bought it for $800 with only 219.000kms an i drove it home an from where I bought it was like an hour away from my house so as I'm driving, jeep was fully heated up where it should be an i can faintly smell coolant so I was like wtf lol so I started to turn my heat on bc like I said it was little chilly so I did an when I turned it on I can smell coolant evan worser but not loosing coolant so I got it home left it parked for like 2 days than drove it bout 3 times within a week than parked it for like a week than go an start it to let it run bc it sat so I shut it off an than check all my fluids an my coolant level is maybe down 2 hairs from where it normally sits an that's at the line where it should be....... just would like the smell gonna let the jeep get threw the winter thays coming soon bc it's 4x4 works awesome an the motor is a 4.7l v8 an runs very smooth

Ok. so would this one work as well? Looks like it includes less but im not 100% sure what I will need. willing to pay the 20 bucks more if it will be worth it

The left over parts will be shims and you don't know which ones you'll need until you put it together. As Duma said, do you want to go chasing for shims you won't have?
Grind off the locking part of your old pinion nut to use checking the depth of the pinion. You can install the gearset without the crush sleeve to verify the tooth match. There's a shim behind the inner pinion bearing that controls the depth of the pinion. If you're using the old gears the original shim should be right, but maybe not.
Differentials are the most important, least understood, and most neglected part of any vehicle. Every motor vehicle has at least one, unless you have hydraulic motors on each wheel.

Just installed my cb in the Jeep. Noticed that any time I transmit my stereo cuts out. Is this normal? It has never happened in my truck but that antenna is smaller and higher. Is the cb just overpowering the fm signal?

did you tune it with an SWR Meter after install? Not sure if that would cause that but it still needs to be done or u can burn up ur new radio.
