Fuel pump install problem.!
Finished installing fuel pump on 98 Cherokee. Did this with minimal gas in tank. Upon starting, gas light appears and gauge reads just under Empty. After refueling, light still on, gauge still reading below E. Why? Tell me its not a damaged float.. Driving fine, just gauge problem. Insight p!ease. Exhausting. Thanks forum.

You may have lost the gauge contacts in the plug when you took it off, as in bad wire or bent pin or something.

I made sure pins in plug were lined up before I attaching female end, so I know pins are good. I can check for any pinched wiring, easy enough. I just wish I hadn't put half a tank of gas in being now I have to pull tank back off to free float.
