Default front driveshaft joints

Hey guys, 03 WJ 4.0L selec-trac. My front driveshaft joints are shot, so I need to rebuild them. I have the rezeppa cv joint at the t-case and a u-joint at the front diff. Just wondering what u-joint i need to replace the diff side joint? And if anyone has rebuit the CV joint at the t-case? I've tried to search the interwebs but from what I've found this is either a rare shaft for this year or no one has rebuilt it

Thanks,
Nick

Since the hard one is taken care of (the pinion yoke is already ujoint style), if it were mine I would look around a few junkyards and pull a ujoint style tcase yoke to swap in place of that rezeppa junk and a cv style double cardan driveshaft to replace your mixed up version.

Ok I'll see if i can find the double cardan joint yoke. How do I swap the cv yoke to the u joint double cardan yoke? I'm assuming its a nut in the center of the yoke but I've been wrong before. This is just a guess too, not sure where my noise is coming from, but the boot on the cv joint is ripped so why not upgrade

That's all there is to it. By doing this swap, you'll be one step ahead if you ever want to lift it.

BTW, your rear axle is a D35, not the "c". There are no c-clips to remove in order to pull an axle.

Yeah if you get lucky, you can grab the driveshaft and tcase yoke off the same Jeep. Look for later model WJ's. There is a nut (maybe 1 1/16"?) and that yoke will just pull off and you can slap the ujoint style on and torque it back down, connect your new driveshaft and good to go!

Seems like the best options is scrap my current shaft. I've been looking around and just my luck I can't find a double cardan joint driveshaft. I'm gonna keep looking around, but if I can't find that yoke I'm going to just rebuild that CV joint. Anyone have luck doing that? I need to do something soon otherwise I don't think that joint will last many more trips to work.

My '00 WJ 4.0 with 242 t/case has a double-carden t/case end and a CV diff end.

If we put yours and mine together we can have one good shaft without the cv joints. I have a baby 2" lift, would I be alright just rebuilding the t-case CV if i cant find a double carden? By that I mean would the boot rip faster because of that angle or is that not enough to cause a significant difference? No 4x4 in MA is tough getting around lately.

I would think a 2" lift isn't going to make all that difference. My front hubs are CV joints and they don't tear prematurely. I had one tear at 150K miles.

Ok thanks, I've been looking around and calling junkyards in my area. The yokes aren't something they've already pulled and 5 feet of snow is preventing me from even looking to see if they're under a jeep. So for now I'm on the hunt for the upgrade and ordering a rebuild kit for a temporary fix. Im going to order this kit. I think it has everything I need and will work for now. Thanks for all your help.

I have a 3" lift on my WJ and I have a CV at both ends It's terrible (just in general principal), but I haven't had any problems in 10k road miles. You will be fine with one until the weather warms up or you wear out that rebuilt CV!
