How's it going fellas, so I'm new to this jeep game. recently purchased my first ever 99 wj and started noticing some problems with it
. if anyone has any clues on what it can be id appropriate the helpm and thanks in advance
.
First: my fog lights were converted into hid but looks like some wires were cut.
2: seems to make some noise when warming up near the pulleys or power steering. this might help but it smells like burning oil and smokes a little from the grill after a while of running, maybe power steering leak?
Any and every 2 cents help, like I stated earlier I'm a jeep noob. thanks again.

Okay, you said any 2 cents, right? Here's mine. If it's a V8, it might have a hydraulic powered cooling fan driven by fluid pressure from the power steering pump. They do have a habit of leaking and are expensive to repair. They also take a special fluid. Someone may have used the wrong fluid and caused a leak. Just an idea. Also, the fan doesn't run until the engine reaches operating temperature so there is no airflow thru the radiator. When it's wet with rain and not up to temp, it will steam until the fan starts running. In your case, it may be smoking from the oil leak.
I'm not all that familiar with HID lighting, but I think they require a special transformer power source so the PO may have run his own wiring.
Let us know what you find. It may help others.

does that "smoke" smell like coolant? sounds like someone needs a heater core replacement! don't worry, I did mine its not hard just many bolts. there is a step by step video somewhere that got me through mine. Also, does that smoke lessen if you turn the temperature **** to cold? Mine did.

OH...... If it has the tow package, there is a trans cooler in front of the radiator that might be leaking. Check it out.
