Default Transmission swap?

Hello, I need to replace the transmission in my 1997 6cyl 4.0 4x4 Grand Cherokee. I am wondering if somebody can tell me what years I can swap the trani out for. I'm looking at a trani out of a 95 tommorrow and would like to know if they will swap out together. Any help and info is appreciated!!

Are the factory connectors compatible? Plug and play or does anything need to be swapped?

If you can pull the trans yourself,I would have your trans rebuilt. Most trans shops are cheaper if you drop off and trans and pick it back up.

Yeah, my guy said he could do it that cheap because he had a lot of extra parts on the shelf. I didn't think THAT was a good idea.
