hey guys i got a friend that has a snorkel on there zj and the air filter is on the outside of the jeep, the cleaner broke of from the mounting flange so they want to get a new one n i was just wondering if the reg auto zone cone is fine for external use like if its ok in the rain, i ask this because the one that broke is just a fine steel mesh on the outside of it theres no other material on the inside of n the ones from autozone say its a cotton filter???? im just wondering if they could use that one

i can't find a pic of my buddys old ****** that had a tin child's sand pail mounted upside down, overtop of his cone filter on his snorkel.

that might work for you. it looked ok also.

 

i dont think so cause the way theres is it goes up higher then the roof then angles down towards the roof

 

Just remember this, guys. Wet paper or fabric filters don't pass air! I think a double layer of copper window screen would work and also look cool.
