They also have bluetooth GPS units that are a bit more spendy.

My iPad broke after 54 mi of hard off road use and I used a floor mounted gooseneck mount that bolted to the seat mount bolt on the passenger side.

This is the mount with a different mounting head for a radio its a Lido mount. You can move it around where you want it.

My iPad resides in my Jeep for tunes. Haven't had an issue with mine.

All off road use in the National Forest on old roads that are impassable for most for the last 15 yrs and private ground, my cousin and his 2 brother in-laws has a little 22.000 acres total from mountain to forests for there cattle.

The iPad just doesn't hold up to real rough ground it was the iPad that failed not the mount. I don't mean just driving around on roads like you do but what are left of some that haven't washed completely away for miles lol. All of this is in the Ozark Mountains of SW MO. and NW AR.

For GPS I use a Garmin 450t portable unit with a windshield mount with all the Central US covering all off road areas parks, National Forests, etc. very handy can be pulled out and carried in a pocket if needed 12v or internal battery.

For music I have all of mine on my phone well 1600 or so.

Great thanks for the info I'll have to look around some more. I'm planing a big trip for the spring, trying to finish up the little details on the jeep now , I'll need a ham radio for communication with the group as well. Devils in the details as always.

Do you mean a Ham Radio or a CB? Ham radios require license's 3 different class's of them a CB does not. The radio above is a Ham radio 10/6/2/440 FM Quad band, I also have an HF radio installed that covers all bands 6-160m.

Here is my CB radio where everything is contained in the Mic very nice in an XJ.

I second that CB. I have the box that connect to the antenna hidden under the center console and all you see is the mic.

I'm researching ham radios now, last long trip the CBs just would not hold a good signal past 100-300 yards it was a massive pain in the ***. I thought it was a grounding issue but I'm not sure .
If you recommend a good CB option I'll take any help you can offer

I routinely get 15-20 miles in good conditions with mine. I run the cobra 75 with a 3 foot antenna on a tail light antenna mount.

Antenna on right side sand flag on right. Same mount just mirrored.
