Default WJ CD changer - strange

My 10 CD changer only plays the CD in the 1st slot - or it used to. I picked up a Sony changer on E bay for a good price and tried to fit it today, however the plugs were different (I think the changer came from a BMW).

I re assembled everything and the Jeep player now plays discs in slot 2, 3 & 4 - but not 1 Bizarre
Searching E bay I saw an adapter for the Sony unit which might fit but it cost more than a used changer - strange

IIRC the CD Changers that Chrysler uses are Alpine, not Sony. It sounds like a dirty sensor, or dirt/crud inside the changer.

The changer started its carry on again so today I removed the plastic cover - 4 screws although only 2 seem to do anything the outside of the changer was covered with condensation which can't be good for it surely ?.

Pulled the plug and sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner, it's now playing 10 discs in a row
I'm wondering as winter is on the way if I should 'lag it' with cloth as you do with pipes

Hi all,
hope you don't mind if i ask a slightly off topic question...

jusr brought a 4.7 GC 2002 but it does not have the CD changer - if i got
one is it a case the wiring is already in place and i could just plug it in,
or is it more complicated than that ?

thanks

More than likely your Jeep doesn't have anything installed for the CD player.
You are going to need the following..

The CD player
Player mounting bracket (some come with the player on eBay)
Mounting anchors (good luck finding them, better off just fabbing something)
The CD Player cable (again good luck finding one) from the headunit to the player.

Thanks KF

sounds straightforward enough then

will have to settle for an auto electrician to fit a system...
