Default engine coolant change

I have little to no engine coolant in the car. But its cold enough to keep the engine at a safe temperature. So what kind of coolant is recommend? And do I need to drain the old coolant.

you can add the universal coolant that mixes with anything... purists might disagree, but that's what i use and have no problems.

I think I would spend some time to find where all of the coolant that is suposed to be in the cooling system went. Weather does not factor in much when there is "little to no" coolant in the system, these are not air cooled engines.

Well its been degrading over time. But does it matter what I throw in there for the time being?

Does not matter, buy what ever is on sale and use a 50/50 mix.

I did end up getting some. Thank you for the help. Can't wait till I get to drive my xj. It's so much simpler.

When you buy your coolant, make sure what you buy. Some is premixed and some is full strength. If you buy premix, you don't have to mix water with it. Remember coolant cools best when it is the proper strength. A 50/50 mix gives you best cooling and -34 F freeze protection.
