I think your GC has front a rear disc brakes. You might want to inspect your brake calipers for binding or the brake lines maybe collapsing internally retaining pressure on the brake pads. Either one would create heat and warp the rotors eventually making the vehicle shake. Look at the rims for excessive brake dust and also if you can shortly after the problem happens pull over and check each tire for the smell of burnt brake pad lining.
Issues with the front can cause the steering wheel to shimmy back and forth as well as a general vibration, problems with the rear would cause more of a vibration in your seat/floor.

define "brake hard". I wouldn't be surprised if you have a bad engine or trans mount, and the hard braking is shifting things. I had a ranger that would vibrate bad from a bad engine mount, but it only did it after i slammed on the brakes.

the check engine light is on and how would i tell if the brake lights are collapsing internally and sometimes one of the back brakes sticks it has a brand new caliper on it though. and not slamming on the brakes just breaking hard if i catch a red light or someone in from of me stops suddenly. it also does it in reverse alot to.

for brake lines, cracka bleeder loose on the caliper, if fluid drips steadly the line is prob good, if fluid does not really flow, it is probably a collapsed rubber line.

If you crack a bleeder loose and brake fluid shoots out that could indicate that caliper is under pressure and sticking and the rubber line to it could be collapsed inside.
