'Ol Blue, I'm an ASE Master tech tackling my daughter's 1996 Grand Cherokee evap at home. Of course I lack the service manual
but stumbled across this thread quite by accident while seeking an exploded view online. I'd really appreciate any info you have.
I can't access ALLDATA until next Thursday and I'd really like to have this knocked out before then. Any help is greatly appreciated!

hello everyone!
I have endured the Texas summer for three years now and enough is enough!
I have a leak in my evap core (2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport) and I can't afford going to my mechanic. Any tips, advice, or schematics to help?? Ol"Blue do you have any documents that you can please share?

hey,
I am finally ready to tackle this job. I have the evaporator core and heater core that will be here in the next few days. I only have a few questions for when i actually get to the evap core and heater core. What kind of tools do i need to remove them? How do i make sure that the AC system is totally drained? Are there any extra parts i may need like rubber gaskets or hoses or anything? If so do you know what sizes so i can pick them up before hand? Also does anyone have any tips on how to keep the nuts and bolts organized? I was thinkin plastic bags that i will hold the hardware and i will tape them to each piece i take out so i cannot loose them? Is there anything easier? Please let me know since i will be attempting this project within the next few days!

I also have a problem with the blowers. When i turn the AC on it wont work on settings 1,2, or 3. It is all or nothing. I was told that might be the blower motor resistor. Is that correct? Also when switching from vents to defrost it takes a few minutes to switch. I have no idea what that could be. Maybe a vacuum leak somewhere. Does anyone know what i could check?
***I found a great video on youtube of a dash removal for 1999-2004 Grand Cherokees.***

Your issue could be the resistor, or a bad switch. If you have a WJ, it could be a bad blower motor connector. >http://www.wjjeeps.com/blower_motor.htm
Since your blower is only running on high, when you switch from vent to defrost the high airflow causes the delay in switching from one position to the other. If you had a vacuum leak, it wouldn't switch at all, it would stay on defrost, the default position.
I thought i deleted it from my inbox but i just found it! thank you. I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee.
I already took out the resistor and it looks a little coroded. The connector looks just fine tho. Before i replace the resistor since it is around 100dollars( I live in HI :/) I would like to try and find the switch that you mentioned. What switch were you talking about, and do you know were that is located? Thanks for all your help by the way!
