A/C Evaporator Core repair
Actually the shop you went to before should have told you the dye was to find/pinpoint any leak(s) and make it/them easy to see. It's not designed to stop any leaks in the system. No surprise it wouldn't hold the first time. The surprise was that you agreed to pay for the procedure a second time, with equal results. I would have asked for a refund the first trip, no way agreeing to pay for the "service" again. Then it fails again, and still never getting any satisfaction, refunds, or the job done correctly. I just can't understand that at all. They charged you for putting dye in your system then filling it w/r134, then when that leaked out, charged you for doing the exact same thing again? Did you fill out a complaint with anyone over this? It doesn't make sense, and is probably illegal. He should be locked up, or at least shut down.
Oh well, at least you now have your AC working, for cheap.

I had two different people look at the AC and recharge it. I did not take it back to the original shop because that was in Seattle, and I had moved to Chicago. The second place pulled a vacuum on the system as I wanted to see how bad the leak might be in the evaporator and I really needed AC for a few days as I was going on a road trip in 100 degree weather. I kind of knew it was going to be a waste of $$$ I am aware the dye does not fix leaks and only detects them. The first place actually never even bothered to look at the condensation drain tube for dye as that is how I discovered evidence of a leak in the evap! He should be shut down as he charged me $150 to recharge and replace o rings I didn't need replacing. He is the reason why I took things into my own hands

I just hope that my AC continues to work with that stuff in there.... I will repost next summer with the long term results

Ol' Blue,
Would you also forward the evaporator R & R info to me?
My 95 Grand Cherokee's A/C quit the other day and I could hear an
audible hiss under the dash.
Thanks in advance for your help.
