I live in SC and it's already in the 90's!!! I went through last summer and it was HOT!!! I think I am ready to take this on. I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport. Add me to the "List of Evaporator Woes".

Okay, you're on the list.

As said many times, take pics, bag parts, keep a journal of each step. Mine sat for 4 weeks before it went back together. Without the pics and journal it would have been a nightmare. I had the evap, condensor, heater core and radiator cleaned and pressure tested. No leaks, so he says. We did replace the accumulator and o-rings. Still need to add the freon.

To add some more information, we added the correct amount of PAG oil to each component as directed per the manual with the exception of the compressor which was not removed. Added the freon, had pressure in the ball park but still hot air coming out of the vents. I remember a post about the blend door and investigated. Well I somehow lost the plug to drive this door. It must be tucked behind the duct. Hmmmm, just decided to remove the little clip and drop the linkage. Then just manually moved the door one way then the other to find the cold air. We now have 48 degree air coming out the vents at 95 degrees ambient. The look on my son's face was priceless.

I am a lurker, but have a Florida a/c problem and looking for help before I dehydrate. I have had a small pinhole leak since I bought my 99 a few years back always patched with can of r134, suddendly a few days ago there was a horrible vibration and noise that went away when the a/c was shut off and clutch disengaged. With the hood open and the A/C on the clutch engages and I can hear the building noise coming from the compressor then there is a discharge of pressure from what I assume is a pressure relief valve. I tried evacuating some pressure into correct collection/recovery tank. Once done then the clutch does the low freon clutch cycling but as soon as it gets the 134 back to correct level it starts the purge again. I am lost for ideas and would love some imput. im am realitivly competent with automotive mechanics and am not afraid to open her up. Help me so i dont catch fire on the way to the fire station for shift. Thanks again guys and gals. Be safe.
