OK, I'm in the middle of a heater core replacement on my '87 XJ... I can't get the thing out without taking apart more of the dash (FSM has to be wrong...). Before I go any further, I was hoping I could also get on the PM list...

Thanks very much!

Hey Brian, Welcome to CF. No, the FSM is the best route to take. Here's a write up w/pics though, if you're interested. >My ACTUAL Evaporator/Heater Core Removal/Installation Thread..... - JeepForum.com

OK, I got the replacement done but I wanted to note that the factory service manual neglected to mention one screw on the back of the blower housing that should be removed. Its not easy to get to nor to even know that it exists. Once I removed this screw the whole thing came out relatively easy.

Hey all~
Long time Jeep owner, new to the forum.

Question regarding the heater core replacement; is there a sticky on the boards with the how to? I did a search and didn't see one.

I have a-

97 GC Orvis
FT 4x4
5.2 Auto & O/D

I am replacing the heater core and have come up with multiple variations on just how to complete this the right way. I have all the lower trim (glovebox, knee guards, etc) out, AC vented, heater lines in a loop (so I can start it if needed).
Now I can't find a solid 'next step'.
Some say to remove the column some say take out the front seats, others gave up and drank beer instead.

If anyone could point me to a sticky as I mentioned or any acurate how to it would be very much appreciated.

......my CJ7 was so much easier to work on......

Cheers!

Question out to anyone who has done this replacement on a 97 GC Orvis.
I have the entire dash stripped to the fire wall. The engine compartment portion is complete....almost which leads to the question.

I picked up the disconnect tools for the evap lines going through the firewall. trouble is I can't get the quick disconnect to disconnect....not so quick. Now I am assumming the disconnect point is where the square, three sided clips are located which you can remove by hand, yes?

Hoping to get this wrapped up by Friday. Leaving for ten days and really need the second rig running .......get the sawzall....dads got some cuttin to do......

And it's out. WD40 is a great tool.

Now to replace and re-assemble.
