Hi all,

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I need to replace the a/c evaporator and the heater core. It will be my first time doing this repair on my own since it is extremely expensive (I'm a college student living in South Florida where its HOT everyday) so if anybody can send me some sort of guide or give me tips towards a faster repair method I'd appreciate it.

Also if anybody knows where I can buy the best parts from and the tools that are needed for the repair, I am aware the repair takes many hours to perform but I like taking on challenges.

Thanks in advance, go JEEP

Follow up on the GC not starting after the a/c evap. replacement. (I'm starting to think these Jeeps are more and more like our female members of the opposite sex. You give them a little attention, like replacing a part, and next they want More attention.) Turns out the starter solenoid decided to die the very next day. Local shops wanted $350 - $425 to replace, so bought a new starter off eBay for $81 and I spent an hour yesterday replacing it - works like a charm now... (until it decides it wants even more attention...)

Default No heat now

Hey all, I attempted this task, and finished it in about 6 hours. But, now I do not have heat, which was not a problem before I replaced the Evaporator core. Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have left something loose that controls the blend doors, or the temp. control. JMO

The part you are holding goes on the right side of the heater core. It holds the core stationary in the box. The tab that sticks out should go towards the bottom of the box. Not sure if anyone told you or not. I just got finished with this today and remember this part pretty good. I'm inclined to believe it wouldn't be worth the trouble to put that part back in its place.
