ol blue,
I have a 2001 xj and the evap core took a dump. Is it crucial to replace the heater core and blower motor while I'm in there to just get it over with? I'd like to get my ac up and running but didnt want to shell out tons of cash for the blower motor and heater core. Also, whats the best place to pick up the foam seals?
Thanks!

I can't tell you where to get the seals. The dealer might have them, or you can make them. IMO

So I've had this problem with the a/c draining on the passenger side floor board for about the last 3 years. I tried drilling the hole and putting the wire through but that didn't really do anything. I tried taking the dash apart to change out the box but only got so far. So finally this year I came up with this.

I cut the drain hole completely out and put a funnel under it to catch the water. You can pull the box away from the firewall far enough to pinch the funnel between the box and the firewall. I also cut the sound proofing to help hold the funnel in place. I then cut a hole in the floor board and ran a tube through it.

I know its not pretty but the funnel fits snug in there so there shouldn't a problem with it moving around. Also you know, unless there is a leak somewhere else, that all water is draining out. It cost me less than a dollar for materials and I didn't have to take anything apart. I destroyed the box but I was so tired of it soaking my floorboards I just started hacking away at it and this is what I came up with. We'll see how it holds up over time.
