97 Grand Cher Laredo Overhead Trip Computer
Hello All,
I'm having trouble with my overhead trip computer. Everything works as it should except for when I reset it. It will reset but when I put the key to the off position and then back to the on position it goes to back to where it was before the reset.
I like to do a reset every time I fill up with gas so I can see what the current average miles per gallon are. It's kind of a gauge that tells me how aggressive or not I'm driving.
So, what would cause it not to hold a reset?
Thanks,
Scott D

Yeah, my old 97 wouldn't reset either. The only way I got it to zero out was when I disconnected the battery to do something. I had to calculate my mileage by the gallons at fillup versus miles driven. The instant mileage setting is very misleading. I just left mine on temp and compass. The compass feature is very handy when trying to navigate back country roads you don't know.

More info: It not only doesn't the hold reset, it reverts back to 6925 miles every time. I have even tried disconnecting the battery for over a half an hour and even then it reverted back to 6925 miles when reconnected and the key turned on.
The actual unit must have a back up battery (like a cmos battery in a computer). Does anyone know if this is the case? And if so, where is it located?
