How do you get the front shock threaded tower from turning to get nut loose. I got the passenger side loose drivers side can not stop tower from moving, I think they are orginal shocks they are lose at the top, passenger side I used washers to take up the slack so they would be tight against the body of the jeep you could take top of shock and move it by hand !

I just did this a month or two back, but I cannot exactly remember? Someone else did this part for me while I was working on something else with my Jeep. I think he used an open end swivel neck wrench on the one bolt. He just held it in place at the top of the bolt with a wrench that was clamped onto it at the flat groove to keep it from turning.

Are you getting some new shocks for it? Those bushing things on the top the towers on mine are just about disintegrated. The washers worked for me to keep it tight for about a month after we did that.
I'm going to be putting Monroe Sensatrac shocks on mine. I have researched and people really like the ride with these shocks for driving on the streets. With a coupon you can find them for about $60 - $70 for a set of all four... I hear they are a huge improvement over the 20 year old stocker shocks, if thats what you are still running.

Put a strap wrench or visegrips around the lower part and use an impact on top to take them off.

Yes, if it has the dust cover you can use a strap wrench to hold it. If the dust cover has rotted away, use Visegrips on the shaft.
