I found a 99 jeep grand Cherokee with Dana 44 and 3.73 in it at junkyard for cheap. Will this fit in my 98?

Welcome to CF!

Yes, BUT... you'll have to weld upper control arm and trackbar mounts to it because the 99 uses a 3 point mount in the rear. The upper control arm is an A-frame unit that does away with the need for a trackbar. It's the same D44, it just mounts differently. You'd have to check, but it's possible the 99 upper arm may mount on the same brackets your uppers do, then you can use the A-arm on your 98. That would make the swap easy! We can only hope! lol.

Short answer it won't work,Long answer is almost 3 or 4 inches wider and a different lug pattern and different suspension mounting points.

Yup "IF" he has a Grand then going from a ZJ 98 to a WJ 99 lots of different changes in them.
