2002 Grand Cherokee Limited starts and runs for 3 seconds then stalls!
Hello,
About 4 months ago my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4.0L's instrument cluster and gauges stopped working then about a month ago it starts and runs for three seconds and stalls. Ive tried the drivers door lock technique but it didnt work. I have both original keys with remotes. Ran fine before but not sure what is going on now. There is an idiot light of a key with a line through it inside a circle. Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance!

Okay, it sounds like the SKIM module is not recognizing the key as being valid. There is a transponder in the key that has a code that has to be recognized by the module. Thru my research I found that each key has it's own code that has to be programmed into the Security Key Identification Module to allow the engine to run. This module is hot all the time so maybe that's what's drawing down your battery because it's faulty.
Unfortunately this is a dealer problem. What's worse is it has to be towed there.

I have the two keys and two remotes that i have always have even when it was running good. Will the system unlearn the keys on its own? Also why would the gauges not work? Thanks again!

What I'm telling you is you have an electrical problem that only the dealer can solve.
