jacked the knuckle back up. The upper ball joint moves vertically to make up for differences in the height of the c. theres a pin that keeps it from falling out. this is what happens wen it breaks. its ok with the weight of the wheel on it.
I did order a new set of spicer ball joints though. The uppers needed to be replaced regardless. Now it was just a good excuse to spend the money.
If my rear diff wasnt hung up, and I just stacked a rock to get over it, I wouldnt have broken the axle. I thought I could bump the axle over the rock and it didnt like it lol.
the d30 is a little under rated, but next years plans still involve a set of 60's

so gonna go out over the next few days and start to get the axles apart to see exactly what I have. if either came with a limited slip or locker, and just get an idea of overall condition. then I can put the money away to regear.
So for anyone wondering, the set is from an 88 F350. Front is a high pinion, kingpin D60, and the rear is a full float D60.

thanks! This part will more along a little slower. so I will do a much better job of getting pics. Ill get some good gear serup pics, and making all the axle brackets etc.
So the intended end result is to run a 37" tire on 4.5" lift.
I want to keep it low.

Ive been pretty busy, and pretty sick, so I have not had a chance to get out and really check out my axles. Today I was looking at a pic of the rear which didnt seem right. Once I got home, about 10 minutes ago, I took an actual look at the rear and counted 12 cover bolts. So I got me a 10.25 sterling and not the D60 I though it was, and told it was lol.
Im perfectly OK with the 10.25. Same cost to gear and lock, but bigger everything with the same ground clearance.
So the plan for the axles are.
Nitro 5.39's
lockright's front and rear
Complete overhaul kits.
Im debating on what I want to run for brackets. Ballistic makes a nice narrow bracket that should work, but will need to be modified.
I can make all my own mounts but Im not sure its worth the hassle.
so well see how it goes.
Right now the plan is to run 37" tires on H2 wheels.
If I happen to come across something slightly larger, I probably wont turn it down.
Now to get some side work, so I can get some cash flow to fund this stuff!!!

I'm gonna try. I ran h2's on my dodge too. They are perfect width and backspace so the width is only going to be about 6-7" wider than it is now.

so I pulled the cover off the rear to see which carrier it had. I was hoping for an open carrier so I could just throw a lock right in it,
pulled the cover and got excited to see an open diff, until I turned it.

so it looks like Im not going to be saving any money on a carrier. Hopefully ill find one used relatively cheap.

Got some work done today, finally got the garage clean enough at least to get the axles in. I didnt have enough room to roll them in so I decided to drive around the back of the garage through the yard in the snow and run my winch cable trough the window to the driveway. So I winched it into the garage and got the front up on jack stands. Got some work done on the front, It was cold so Im happy with what I got done.
