Default Seriuos Sunday Update

Well Serious Sunday had some serious moments..I pulled the wet carpet up over the past two weeks, But I cut around the console. So I started there. Moisture had wicked up to the shifters....Cleaned up pretty well...
Up front behind the brake and gas pedals, is a black plastic/rubber shield, I guess...I happened to pull up and put my fingers under it , and damn, there was foam behind there that was soaking wet...Lifted and vented that out.
Then the bad news....Behind the right hand side, where the jack is, there was some pretty bad rot. Worse than any where else. The area under the back seat has a metal support that causes a damn, holding any water in place.
And Im thinking that the dissimilar metals between the jack and the floorboards might have caused some electrolysis, excelerating the corrosion ??...Some might have more thoughts on that...
Anyhow....I think I will need some metal back there. But because it is where it is, after I grind and prep, I may leave that till I can drive it to someone who can weld........ Yeh..I cant weld....
Later

Nice job and those are small holes .

Want my opinion on that rubber foam mat under firewall? Pull it out and get rid of it. I'm not sure why its there maybe for that purpose to absorb water but my thoughts is its a trap so get it out. Plus did you really get it fully dry? Have you found where the actual leaks are? Check firewall in engine compartment you might find wiring go through and rubber grommets missing our out of place that are supposed to block water intrusion. The passenger side will have the antenna cable coming in through door frame area forward of door but behind fender. That rubber grommet falls out and will let water in.

Keep up the work your making good progress. That rust is not bad your in good shape

I think the leak is the gaskets around the hood hinges....

Default Up on Jacks

Being up on jacks sure does give me the opportunity to get dirty !!!
Scraping/ brushing off 200,000 + miles of dirt of gives me a certain satisfaction somehow.... My wife does not understand....
I'm not sure I do either .....

Default POR-15 and Fiberglass

Hi all, Ok had some small rot holes , front right side...I broke out, filed and wire brushed the affected area.
I cleaned and prepared the surface per instructions. I used electrical tape on the bottom to prevent weeping and sagging of fiberglass and resin..Worked pretty well...
I coated the inside surface and laid down a 7" by 12" piece of fiberglass and recoated over the fiber glass. After it had started to set, I applied a second coat... I let it set , then pulled off the electrical tape and cleaned and coated
the bottom... I will now overcoat with rustoleum .. I'll .finish cleaning the floor and paint the rest of the interior floors....and the underside that I repaired ..

Default Red Mess/ ElectricalUnder the dash

Hi All, Ok Red Mess is making progress..I have ALMOST finished all floor panel work..
.
Moving on to electrical..the 1st thing I wonder about is this electrical plug ,that was totally separated ,,( I stuck the male in the plug part way) what is it ?
Next is the under dash fuse box..lots of corrosion.. I have found blowups of under hood fuse box, but not under dash...???
Last what is good overall fuse kit for my 94 Cherokee XJ 4.0 6 cylinder ??
I'll be asking more questions..

That male/female looks like the antennae/radio connector.

As far as a fuse box, that one's seen better days for sure.

I'd either:
1.) Pull a good matching one out of a JY.
2.) Pull a newer model and adapt it
3.) Buy something like a Bussman fusebox and do a rewire

Of those three, I'd probably go with #1, then #3.

I'd either:
1.) Pull a good matching one out of a JY. Good idea,
and cheap.

2.) Pull a newer model and adapt it it would be easier to adapt a 3rd party universal, like OPT 3.
3.) Buy something like a Bussman fusebox and do a rewire Probably best idea if a JY swap doesnt fix it.

Of those three, I'd probably go with #1, then #3. Again, agreed. 1 then 3. I wouldnt waste time with OPT 2. You seem to have the skills, so a stand-alone Fusebox and all new wiring will lessen the chances of future failures as well. And look bad ***....
you know, before you reinstall the dash over it.
