is this fixable? i was in the process of cutting of brackets on my d60 and i cut too deep and made a hole...thought i had another 1/2" to go even....
i am not a welder, but i got a friend who is supposed to help me with all my welding....is this fixable or do i need to find a new axle?
and for size referance

NO WORRIES MAN, THAT AXLE IS REPAIRABLE. YOU WILL NEED TO INSTRUCT YOUR BUDDY THAT DOES YOUR WELDING TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT TO MUCH HEAT TRANSFER THOUGH. TELL HIM TO TURN THE HEAT DOWN FILL THE HOLE, THEN COME BACK DRESS THE AREA AND REWELD WITH A LITTLE MORE HEAT. GRIND SMOOTH AND THEN YOUR DONE. JUST BE A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME!

I wouldnt just weld up the hole, use some metal to actually replace the metal that was removed. That is a stress point on the axel, thats why it is part of the casting. If you don't do this, it may cause it to crack.
Is it a DD?
