Believe me. When the 4.8 is in it there will still be more than enough power on tap.. with the LS tune it will be even more powerful.. I just need more powa in my truck.. It does ok, but it lacks torque.. I thought seriously about making the LS a 383 stroker then installing it in the truck.. The truck weighs in at like 5200lbs and it is 2wd and it doesnt have anything, no power anything, no fancy seats, no heavy duty insulation.. It is a work truck with chrome bumpers and wheels that i installed carpet into...

Oh yeah. !! that is why i threw it together.. Plus the fact that i dont feel bad about hacking this jeep since its already junk.. And if i wish to get another jeep or even.. a rubicon or something i could repower it easily enough later on if i choose to.. well wait for some pics tomorrow.. im taking the night off tonight.. I smashed my thumb yesterday at work with a cylinder head off a 15L so its a little black and sore..

well i said i was taking the night off but i lied

i bolted on the exh manifolds and ran into my first fitment issue.. Looks like i will be welding on vband exhaust connections instead of the HUGE 3 bolt flat flanges that the stock manifolds have.. But that will be easy so i guess it isnt that big of a deal..

I am going to try and smoke them on tomorrow at work and also plug the EGR holes in the manifolds and maybe modify the Trans mount to move the trans about 1 inch forward..

Anyone know the driveline angle in their stock jeep cherokee 5 speed??

All i did tonight was wash the engine and transmission.. At work i did manage to make a set of engine mount cradles only to find that i measured the things incorrectly and they were about 1/2 inch too shallow.. I also managed to make a new transmission mount that will move the trans about an inch forward.. and started working on the new xfer case shifter.. one that doesnt require twelve different levers.. and actually moves front to back instead of up and down.. (just kind of drove me nuts)

tomorrow i will attempt to make another set of engine mounts.. and bust out some plates to weld to the frame and some pieces of tube to make the mounts out of.. Goal is to have the engine mounted in the jeep solid by saturday night..

Well ended up having to move the trans crossmember forward a set of bolt holes.. and leave the trans mount in the stock location.. So in short i put the rear bolt holes on the front xmember bolts for now.. i will indeed make a crossmember and include some long arm mounts.. I managed to get the engine mounts tacked in.. Engine oil pan is way too low.. And it will not move far enough back to clear the axle tube.. I guess i am going to have to lift it.. Oh well.. LOL

Removed the engine again to brace up the engine mounts.. They are a little on the flimpsy side.. Need some more 1/4 inch plate...

I am going to start looking at the trans mount next.. Will be the first time i have done a crossmember for a 4x4.. not used to having to work around the transfercase..

Should be fun.
