Well, it is in.. Need to move it about 1/2 inch to the passenger side for two reasons.. exhaust clearance and to get it straight.. My helper wasnt reading a tape measure correctly and when i asked to double check.. they just said ok..

So today i am going to have to work on my El Camino. I finally got the threaded tube inserts for the Johnny Joints on the upper control arms of the EL Camino and i have been itching to drive the thing so .. ima bust out a new set of uppers that are a bit beefier and get the thing to the exhaust shop to get some new pipes made.. Its cruise in weather here and i want to be able to show off my ride..

But here are a few pics to keep all you people happy... LOL

For now yes i plan to use the stock unit.. I plan to get the heavy duty griffin aluminum unit.. but right now im strapped for cash.. If i cant make it on my own then it will probably be a while.. Im one of the guys with way too much time and elbow grease, but no money

There is a local shop that can likely make me a radiator on the cheap.. I am going to focus on the crossmember/long arm mount for right now. get the engine mounts in final location, then go from there.. Still have to remove the fuel tank, install cell.. Fix floors.. make bumpers.. Got ALOT of work left.. And only a little time to do it..

Ok man we support you psychologically, al least you are doing your build.
I don't have time, space and equipment to start my build (working in a foreign country), and i hate to pay others to do stuff i can do better.

Oh yeah, just found out that the rear axle was rebuilt about 3 months ago as well.. And apparently has a LOCKER!!! Hell yeah..

Also found out that the oil pan is way close to the axle.. and that i am not sure how to fix that issue.. I guess i will have a guy here at work notch the pan.. and perhaps even move the drain plug to the rear.. Right now it would drain right on the diff housing..

With the trans scooted forward about 3 inches i will now need new shafts.. so that means that i may as well lift it to the desired height and do the SYE.. and maybe even the 4 to 1 at the same time..

Ok.. So the weekend is over.. My parents left yesterday. I also got about 2 truck bed loads of mulch spread so the wife will not have a reason to complain so much..

So its back to business.. I am going to finish the final touches on the rear suspension on the Meano today. Get that bolted in and make a new driveshaft loop.. I then have to cut the exhaust off and take it to the muffler place to get the new quieter muffler put on it.. So that my neighbors dont think im a hood.. ( they never say anything but i know it is loud so....)

Then im going to make a new set of mounts for the engine.. out of 1/4 inch plate, and modify the stock mounts so they drop in straight.. Then smoke the new mounts in and start worrying about oilpan mods..

Wish me luck!!!

Jeep is gone.. I know things didnt make it too far, there are too many things that i have to buy to make it run.. was planning to keep the 5 speed and all the parts to convert a newer jeep from an auto to a 5 speed, but i have decided to let someone else have it.. So the AX15 is for sale, the billet aluminum adapter is for sale as well.. 500 for the trans with the pedals and all the hydraulics including a newer clutch and flywheel..

I also have an SM465 and an NP205 to sell..

Came home from vacation to find my front door wouldnt open.. Termites had eaten the frame away so i have alot of money to sink into my house.. help me out and make an offer on the transmission either one..

Thanks

Sorry to hear about that. I was looking forward to seeing the finished project, but sometimes you just gotta cut it and run, I think we all understand that one.

Hope you can get the termite problem fixed with out too much hassle.

good luck

I wish that it were going to be that easy, but lets just say that selling the jeep and all its parts might pay the orkin man to come and treat the termites just to kill them,

Then i have to bust out the front porch and take out the block foundation for the porch, all of which is concrete, replace the header along the front of the house, take off all the siding, replace the damaged studs, build new door opening, then install a new door, which is around 2300 dollars by itself due to having two sidelights, then hopefully reinstall the siding and then dig new footer, install new porch foundation, then poor new slab on top of all of that...

Should be a good solid month work of hard labor, and thats if i have help, i am a diesel mechanic/ diesel engineer, not a carpenter..

My stuff is listed on the indy craigslist.. Take a look and shoot me an offer, it is also in the for sale adds..

MAKE AN OFFER NEED THE SPACE AND THE MONEY!!!

Sorry to let everyone down on this project.. By the way the oil pan wasnt going to clear the HP 30 axle, it was going to be much easier to buy the NOVAK mounts, and then it was still going to need floors, a lift, wheels and tires, a cage, driveshafts, and then who knows if the trans would have held up for long...

Just too much money to sink into a cherokee that is beat all to hell on the outside..
