hey, since you read alot, do you know what would be a cheap upgrade to the steering box to handle bigger tires? (any that fit in with little modification to the mouting point? or moderate mod.?
A steering box brace or a durango steering box because it's beefier

Thanks JerseyJeeper, duncan807, 96jeepxj and MudDepot (by the way, the name is awesome!)
and thanks JerseyJeeper for the info on the steering box, I may try and find a Durango box then.

Runnin a ramsey 9000 on there (fairly old model, but got it off ebay for cheap, $300!)

and for the lights i just drilled straight through the hood, painted the holes with rustoleum, then coated em in grease to keep them from rusting out, gotta be sure that you wanna do it though, else you'll have two useless holes in the hood.....or maybe some small a$$ vents? lol

lol, thats true, but in all honesty, the only tire that i've found that cleans out this texas clay well are the super swamper (with those big voids between the lugs). all in all i'm happy with em though didn't want to rev em up too high that day, was tryin the rig out for the first time with the 35's and still have the turdy five in the rear......coulda ended up bad

they're good on the trails to illuminate the general area in front, they do go a ways, but since they are up there, they don't light right in front of you because of the hood, that's why i have an extra little set on the roller fairlead, need to put some on my roof rack to get the sides too

no problem MudDepot

just put in a hi-flow air filter, need to find a heat shield. Total cost was:

$19 for the filter
$6 for the straight tube
$5 for the nipple kit
$0 for the old socket rail to keep the filter sturdy

Whats up Chex_Mex. I finally got those washers for the steering. Works alot better. Still not sure if I will keep that system though. Where did you get the hi-flow air filter from?

The Rubicon Express drop brackets will help u out a lot. Also from the pics it looks like the steering and tracbar angle is a too steep. Tracbar dropbracket and pitman arm would be super easy to intall.

thought about them, but had something similar to them on my last xj and it ended up ripping out one of the CA mounts from the frame when i ran into a stump with the fron tire, thinkin about doing a long arm eventually, maybe once i get a welder and learn how to weld, i can try and fab up something (it would be alot cheaper then buying one of those l.a. kits)

as for the steering, if it ain't broke, why fix it. I do have a drop pitman on there (6-8"), but I have no bump-steer, so I figure the angles are good (even though i didn't think they looked good either ), drive it around 60-70 mph w/o a problem (minor drift here and there when passing big rigs or on a windy day)
