the front has 6.5" coils with 2" spacers, and iron man fab adjustable upper and lower control arms (short arms)

Chex_Mex 04-12-2010 02:04 PM

Yup, still need to lengthen to front shaft for max flex, but have a new one in the rear, pics to come shortly

thought i'd get my 4x4 back, was able to drive it around in front wheel drive w/o the rear driveshaft (have the newer np242, no spillage and part time 4x4). just had to make sure and keep off the skinny pedal

Chex_Mex 04-12-2010 02:14 PM

hack n' tap finished

nice looking rig! looks like you have done a good build so far, but why did you do with a 8.5" lift in the front on short arms? thats a rough ride isnt it? It has to be putting alot of stress on your uni-body right?

looked nice when i got her (the previous owner lived in NY and had the bottom coated with rhino liner), but something was missing, so i thought i'd tinker.....the little donuts made it look terribly mis-proportioned, so in came some 35" mickey mtz's on the new pro comp flat black streetlocks

Chex_Mex 04-12-2010 02:32 PM

you are completely right 96 xj, i went with the short arm due to costs, but as of now have to lay off the gas in bumpy areas. One benefit of the short arms (never thought i'd say it) is that it allows me to run a shorter wheelbase. I say this because with that high angle on the arms, when ever i get off camber or hit a bump, it moves the axle forward, which gives me the needed clearance i need from in wheel wells to turn.

i hope that one day in the not too distant future i can upgrade to a long arm (if i feel it is just too bumpy). I think iron man fab makes a pretty good 3 link kit, but any long arm is just a bit too pricey as of now. before that, i need to get in some new gears...then i can keep the ride smooth by just crawling, thinking of running 4.10s, any thoughts?

NosferatuMan 04-12-2010 02:45 PM

that looks really good. good job. im super jealous.

Chex_Mex 04-12-2010 02:51 PM

with hard work comes the benefits, been workin with my dad on it for about 6 months now (bit by bit when i could afford the parts). I should name it ebay crawler though....just about everything on it was purchsed from ebay haha, made for a cheap builld though. took it out to test all the parts (see if they were cheaply made) held up great, so far, i'll post pics later tonight
