Ya can't have too many!! Lol. I want to do something for the rear, but my roof rack falls a little short. I might hook a factory rail on to fill the gap, so I can clamp something on there. I really want some lights that I can swivel and point in the direction I might possibly need them in.

 

Just get one of those remote control GoLights haha. They make them in LED now

Ha! I could build my own wireless swivel mount for a lot less than what that thing costs, I'm sure. I'll figure that one out later.

Last night...ordered these 6.5" speakers. I'm going to rebuild the OEM tweeter pods I got with these new tweeters...pretty excited about it!

I also ordered a transmission temp gauge finally...



Also, last night I cleaned up the overhead console I'm planning to install. But first I'm outfitting it with LEDs and switches for my future light bars. Also redoing the headliner trim on it! Pics to come later.

Ohh, the same speakers I'm looking at - please take lots of pics of the tweeter pod install. i Reckon you'll need to cut out quite a bit of the old plastic to make them fit. well unless you'll surface mount them?

 

They should fit inside the OEM tweeter pods that I have. I'm sure it won't be a simple lock-in-place deal like the factory tweeters, so I'm not sure how I'm going to secure them in the pods just yet, but surely I'll find a way! Unfortunately those are not arriving until Monday so it will have to wait until then...the rear speakers will be at my doorstep today along with the temp gauge and I also ordered a 30 tooth speedo gear to correct my speedometer, so I at least have those things to keep me busy until then

Friday night, I installed the rear speakers. Good God, do they rattle like hell. It's because of the stupid plastic connector that's on them, just flopping around in the sound bar. I'll probably chop it and just wire it like a normal person. It also shook enough to break a solder on my LED cargo light, so I gotta fix that..

Also got my tranny temp gauge in. I'm very pleased with how it turned out! But, I put the sensor on the return line so it's showing cooled temps. I'm gonna switch it around at some point. I'm also entertaining the idea of using an old coolant temp sensor I have laying around to put on the other line w/ a toggle switch so I can monitor both temps. So far it's been staying around 150-180 at most.



This gauge kit didn't come with the fittings necessary to plumb it in with the trans, so a quick trip to the hardware store and I found what I needed.

In other news, since I now have a correct speedometer, I calculated my mileage and it's getting a solid 15 mpg. I'm pretty happy with that considering that's what it was getting bone stock long ago. I suspect the new exhaust header, 703's, new O2 sensor and Spectre air filter might all have helped there.

 

Got all of my new speakers in! Apparently I didn't take pictures of the rears, but here's some good stuff from the front. The new tweeters fit inside the pods rather nicely, and are held in place merely by the screw holding the tweeter pods to the door. Works very well and no rattles. I also fastened the crossover right to the plastic sheeting inside the door--plenty strong enough to hold it, no rattles, and there was no better place to put it!

They sound excellent, but I still have some rattles to sort out in the rear sound bar. It knocked my LED cargo light loose so I'll be fixing that soon.

I also got started on my DIY diff cover for my D30. More welding practice!



Got bored and finally threw in some LEDs I had laying around for the map lights. Since there's no reflector, they are very dim. They are basically just night lights. Which is totally fine because I rarely use them, and the whole works will be replaced with the overhead console eventually.



Yesterday, I jumped on the opportunity to get a great condition 1999 TJ cluster from a part-out. Picked it up for 40 bucks! I outfitted it with LEDs and drove over to my buddy's house who can reprogram the cluster mileage to match my stock cluster exactly. (FYI, if anyone is interested, there is a video on YouTube outlining how to do this, and also do so at your own risk. Nothing illegal if the mileage is matched exactly.)
