After going through all 29 pages I must say that I am jealous of all the work that you have put into your XJ. Amazing progress!

Thanks!! And now I have some more updates!

The latest project has been the SYE. Last weekend I went down to my buddy Jimmy's shop to get it done.

It was a learning experience for us both as we had never done one before...and I wasn't comfortable doing it on my own, but it turns out, it's actually pretty easy. And very easy if you have the proper snap ring pliers...which we definitely did not!

Once we got it all buttoned up, we were about to spin down the yoke nut for the rear output when we realized the nut that they included with the kit wouldn't thread on.

It seems that they sent the wrong one. So, Tuesday I called them up and explained the situation to them, and 2 days later I have a new nut at my door. It looks a bit different as you can see in the picture here. The new one was labeled "pinion nut" and threads on perfectly. Rugged Ridge has great customer service!

If all goes to plan, this bad boy will be going in this weekend.

Mopar tag? Weird!

That reminds me... didn't you ask me to check which nut I had with my kit? lol

Lol yeah, is it the galvanized one, or the brass-looking one? If it's the brass-looking one, better call 'em up.

This 231 came out of a wrecked XJ that had 120k on it, and supposedly the transfer case was Mopar rebuilt @ 100k. Hence the tag

Well I just took a gander... I wouldn't call it brass but I have a yellow zinc-plated one like an SAE Grade 8 bolt. I tried spinning it on by hand; the first few threads were fine but then it started getting tough and deforming the threads. A couple on the threads on the shaft itself have flattened out. Hadn't even gotten to the little pressed-in bit at like 2/3 of the nut.

This sound like "the wrong one"? Remember mine's from September or August.

That definitely sounds like the same one I got (wrong nut). Open a ticket with their support and they'll send you a new one quickly

Well, I took a break from all the transfer case nonsense and have been working on a new project for the Jeep...CB Radio! Starting off with a Uniden 510XL and a 4 foot FireStik antenna with a spring mount.

I made the radio bracket out of what I had leftover from chopping the exhaust shield that goes around the gas tank. It simply mounts to where the visor clip screws go. They're plenty strong enough to hold it.

Then I got to work fabricating the antenna mount, coming off the taillight. Made out of some steel I had laying around.

And of course, I painted everything with Rustoleum Hammered.

Still have to wire it up and get it tuned and all that, not to mention learn some lingo since I'm totally new to CB. I'll get back to that transfer case one fine day...

I'm glad somebody finally noticed, lol.

Thread update....went to a buddy's to help tune the CB radio. Getting a high SWR due to reflection. I can only transmit about 2 miles. I'm considering moving the antenna to the hood and making a mount for it there, even though I really like it's location. I really only wanted it for trail rides and informational anyway, so it's not pressing.

Had some fun in the mountains yesterday. It sure is a great feeling to get out and enjoy all the hard work I've done. In other news...A brand new set of Courser Mastercraft MXT 33x12.50x15 tires are coming REAL soon! I can't wait. Then my mileage should really go down! Getting about 13mpg right now.

Looking sweet! I was about to write you need 33s but I see you got that covered. You for sure need 3.75 back spaced rims though.
