So I got the hanger and tailpipe all situated...shown here without the rear bumper which I have since put back on. I think I'll need to get a tip or something to extend out past the bumper further. Damn PA inspections! I'm sure I will have more trouble in this area later once I get the lift on...

But, I've run into a few more problems. For one, the muffler connector refuses to stay in the cat. It will need to be welded. Which is fine since I can do that now...however, another problem. With the current setup, the muffler is too close to the rear driveshaft for comfort.

I'm going to have to re-situate the whole setup to work around this, and the best option probably is to get a new cat as well. But, I did get it around the block earlier and it sounds GREAT! It's not too terribly loud.

Oh, and here's a pic of the CJ **** vs. XJ lever

Only thing is, the **** is stuck--can't unscrew it. I may have to scrap this idea for now if I can't get it loose. Don't want to have to remove the entire shifter assembly to remove the center console, lol.

Yesterday I ordered JCR Nut strips for my rear hitch install, Iron Rock Offroad double shear track bar kit and adjustable lower control arms!

Now all I need to do is wrench it all on!

Great work man! Lots of hard work done on that rust repair. Living in CT, I'm sure I will have to do something similar to mine eventually.

How easy was it to learn the welder? Have you welded before this project? I've welded once or twice in my life about 5 years ago with a stick welder, so I'm not too familiar.

Love the color of your XJ as well!

Thanks man! Before this project, I had only welded in high school shop class which was 2005-2006. I sucked at it then, too. Once I picked up my welder and started practicing and such, and building a weld cart (need to finish that project), watching YouTube videos and stuff, I picked it up pretty quickly. It's not too hard but does take patience and practice.

Hey your muffler clearance issues are because they go center in/ offset out so you have it backwards.

Haha sorry nevermind I'm looking backwards haha. But at the shop they had to rotate my tail pipe to clear everything a little then put a tip on so the outlet wasn't funny looking.
