I still haven't corrected this but my current plan is to trim the coupler piece between the muffler and the cat and bring the muffler closer to it. That will give enough room to clear the driveshaft. But also, I'm going to remove the rear pipe from the muffler and add an extension piece on the muffler side as well. Then I'm gonna weld it all up.

Two nights ago, I finally figured out my exhaust dilemma. Turns out I did have to flip the muffler over. After I did this, I welded most of it up and it's fantastic! Love the sound of the Flowmaster.
Also, today I installed my 703 injectors. I ordered the wrong rebuild kit off of eBay, and I finally got the correct kit today so I rebuilt them with new microfilters, O-rings and pintle caps. I guess not really a "rebuild" but breathes new life into the injectors.

All done:

Old microfilters vs. new:

Old injector vs. new:

After running the XJ for a little after installation, I noticed immediate results. It starts up on the second or third crank, way faster than before, and acceleration is noticeably improved. It's awesome! Highly recommended mod. The injectors are easy to rebuild too.

Run that flowmaster for a few days and it will start to sound better. I dont know if its a break in deal or what, but mine got slightly louder i thought. I could barely hear it at first. And where did you find your 703s at? Every place i look there already picked out

Love the sound of flowmaster. I had a 1970 Nova with a 307 in it. Was still running the original 2 bbl carb on it and a 2 speed powerglide aut trans. Thing wouldn't even get out of its own way, but when I took it to an exhaust shop and had them install new pipe from the headers back and a flowmaster on each side - you would have thought I had a monster. Throttle response improved even with the 2bbl carb, and you could set a car alarm off with those pipes... I miss that sound. Wasn't an obnoxious sound either. I had a neighbor that had a 63 impala w/ a 327 in it and magnaflows - he was jealous of the way mine sounded.

^^^ I was thinkin' the same thing about the brake parts cleaner... has chlorine or somethin' in it right? I didn't think carb cleaner would be a problem though. Safest bet is definitely TB cleaner though.
I still wouldn't want to use either one of them to clean the injectors

Also, I got half of my 703s from Eichelbergers and the other half from Baughmans. You'll have better luck finding them at Baughmans--I found one lone '96 Plymouth Breeze at Eichel's that had them. If you go there and find a set, I have two extra that are already rebuilt that I'd sell ya. Also, I know there are a bunch of minivans there that have them, but it looks like you have to pull the whole intake manifold to get to them!
The BPC I used was chlorine-free. The plastic is pretty tough on these injectors, and the stuff evaporates off really quickly, so I'm not too concerned about it.

Texty update: XJ is getting inspected tomorrow! FINALLY! Some of you already know this from my excitement on other threads, probably. Just need to fasten down some of the interior trim and adjust the E-brake up a little.
