I recently acquired a set of lightly used gears on the cheap and after looking at gear install pricing I think I am going to try to tackle the job myself. I have never set up gears before so I am looking for someone in my area who has done it before that would be interested in giving me a hand. I am very mechanically inclined and have done my research so I know what is involved. I would set it up so that I have the new gears on and ready to shim by the time you get there. I just need someone to help me set the preload and backlash and a second set of eyes to verify the pattern looks good. I would provide beer, food, and possibly cash depending on your experience.

Hell yeah Kevin, that would be badass! I have read a lot about it and watched a couple tutorial videos and it does not look too tough. I just want someone to help that has done it before just in case. I need to pick up a couple ring and pinion install kits and arrange for some shop time in my friend's garage and I will be ready to go. He has a lift and all the tools we will need. I will probalby want to do this some time after next weekend so just let me know when you are available.

I dont know that much about setting up gears.But more then willing to come over and drink beer and watch.(I can bring the hatch with me)

 

I was looking at this post and thought I would ask if you might wanna make a liitle cash? Or better yet I have a crap ton of Parts I could do some type of trade for your help in gearing my HP dana 30. Its not re-gearing in my case. Its replacing gears with another set of 4.56 gears. Let me know if you might be interested if not totally cool.

Bill, I've done gears a couple of times. First in my Toyletta and then in my Jeep. I've actually done the gears in my D-turdy twice. I could come down there ,t oo, sense none of the BL boys wnats run Evans this weekend.
