Ok so I have been having low idle problems plus stuttering and shaking. Also, when I press on the gas it will go slow then rev up and speed up rapidly. It will do that between 2-5 times then it will be normal. I can also feel like a clicking in the pedal when it revs and speeds up like that. So far I have cleaned iac, replaced tps, new wires, cap, rotor, and plugs (copper) so I'm thinking it could be a problem with either the coils, cat converter (maybe clogged? Could that cause it?), the cps (ill test that soon) the map sensor, or the iac (maybe need replaced?) Anyone have any ideas?

Any idea for a source for the gasket? I can't find one listed. Everything just shows the IAC and not seeing anything for that gasket.

Sorry I'm not sure what O-rings he is referring to there.

My gasket was just old and brittle. It just crumbled apart when I pulle the 2 pieces apart. From what I could find it is a dealer part only, but gasket not sold separately. So got material to make my own.

So it's normal, just keep driving it and it should be back to normal real soon.
Awesome thanks.

When I left my interior lights on one night all winter (two melted holes in snow on roof: uhoh) I had to keep the pedal down for a few minutes as it just wouldnt idle. Didn't behave right for the next couple of days, but cleared up afterwards.
Battery is holding full charge, so no problem there. Haven't had the alt checked, but it actually charged up the battery pretty quickly (10 minute drive home and next day started up just like normal)... I don't know that I would say it is surging, more like dipping when I let off the accelerator... Particularly when the ac is on... But again, all of it started after the batt drained.

I suspected what the big h said, so I'm just gonna give it a couple of weeks and see if the ecm relearns and returns to normal.

My xj came without a t-stat(ran it for 6 months) and could that be why I get terrible mileage. I replaced but I get that same mileage. Could that have damaged my engine? I was reading a thread about not running a t-stat and thought this could be my problem.

What year is your Jeep. The newer Xjs fuel filter is in the gas tank. Just a heads up.
