I did try the 4WD in a grassy field shorty after I bought it and it seemed fine but again on pavement its like it has a locked diff.
What do you mean it feels like it had a locked diff? If you're trying to drive on solid ground in 4wd, you're gonna get hop because you're binding in the front. That's a no-no.

If the computer thinks that all of a sudden the throttle is at MAX, it's going to dump in so much fuel that it'll stall out. This would be similar to a bad volume **** that crackles when you touch it.

As for warming up, since the intake manifold sits directly above the exhaust any heat is going to wind up in that area. As the metals warm up their resistance and shape can change... also whatever goo might be in the way could get warm enough to not interfere as much.
Thanks for the info. i unplugged the iac tps and the map one by one today tps-stall, map run lk sht, iac no change. gonna get iac tomorrow thanks again

Ok good to know. I had a DSM friend say that but I didn't give him the proper credit.

In 4wd on these, the Jeep wants all four tires to spin at the same rate. If your front tires have toe-in or if you turn, your front tires are spinning at different rates. The Jeep doesn't like this, and that banging is the sound of you brutally murdering your Jeep. Don't worry, though, I learned the same way you did. Just don't use 4wd unless the surface is loose/slippery enough for your tires to break traction.

I have been lurking around and see alot talk about the exhaust manifold and what to replace it with I see the banks, apn and the obx. Does the one you get at autozone, advanced auto or O' reilys any count? This is the one they all sell Dorman brand I think?

Hey there it is! That's the one I have! lol

Like second week of the XJ the manifold cracked. The guy I bought it from was able to convince his friend to get shop discount pricing on a unit that looks just like that and install it on a weekend for cash. I've done some reading since then.

Anyway I wouldn't really call it a performance header. Better than stock, but not set up in the same way as a Banks etc.

Hi everyone! I am in the market of finding an XJ and I stumbled upon one that has had a NP231 to NP242J transfer case swap. I tried out the transfer case and everything feels fine BUT I noticed that the part-time and full-time lights are permanently on. The owner of the vehicle has receipts of this swap as it was done at a reputable place near my home.

My question is: do the part-time and full-time lights mean that something is seriously messed up or that a sensor is just bad somewhere?

Thank you!

Welcome to CF. Sounds like the shop forgot to switch the plugs for the indicator on the VIC. Simple to do. This explains it w/pics. >http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39318

Please do yourself a favor and get the right shocks. Alot of ppl say oh you can use stock shocks on a BB but honestly my shocks had close to 180k miles on em and they didn't last too long after I did my BB. Now I got zones and I couldn't be happier
