Yeah I tried using my headlight, perhaps doing such things during the day might help my cause

What year and motor is your Jeep? Can't tell you without that info.

Try using a paper towel. Lay the paper towel down on something flat, then lay the end of your dipstick flat down on the paper towel. Compare the mark on the paper towel to where it would be on your dipstick.

Default 96 xj return fuel line?

Does the 96 have the returnless fuel line or a return line? How could I determine this by looking underneath --- does two hoses going to the pump hatch mean there's a return? Trying to decide whether to install an external check valve.

Default Problem new head and gaskets still hot

I just finished replacing my head. And with in a week of finishing I have over heated twice. Idk why this would happen... besides maybe a air bubble in the head or tstat. What do y'all think? Any thing helps me rule out the problem.

96 is returnless. Easiest way to tell on ANY Jeep is to look at the fuel rail. If there's 1 line going to it, it's returnless. If there's 2, it's a return system.

Flush the heater core, the block, the radiator, all coolant hoses, and (if it's an open system) the return line and overflow reservoir. Then make sure the radiator isn't dirty (airflow-wise). Also make sure your mechanical fan is working properly, the electric fan is working properly, and the thermostat is opening like it should. Literally any one of those things could cause overheating.

Default Headlights issue

I just replaced the headlight switch on my 96 Jeep Cherokee and the headlights went on once, closed the door and they go off. The other lights are flickering too after the headlights went out. I have checked all bulbs and grounds.

Any idea why my headlights go out and the the other lights flicker?
Thanks for the advice.

look at the pigtail on the socket for the bulbs. does it seem rusty and corroded? my turn signals in the front would often trigger the fast ticking (like when a bulb is out) but it ended up being the wiring that was just completely messed up. most auto parts store will have the generic socket needed for the lights

Question for you guys. My power locks stopped working after letting the Jeep sit for a week or two. If I hit the lock button, I can hear the passengers side switch click but the locks do nothing. If I try the passengers side switch, still nothing. Just sounds like a relay clicking on and only in the passengers side switch. I recently put a new to me drivers side switch in as well as repaired the speaker wires going through the door. Does this sound like more broken wires in the door or the switch assembly itself?

Hoping somebody has some insight into this too. My locks in my '00 work 98% of the time. When they decide not to I get what you have. Plus when I realize they don't work they have literally started working again in as little as 5 minutes sometimes. Sometimes not working when I park the Jeep at night but work fine the next morning. They never stay not working long enough for me to try and figure out why.

Yep same here. Every once in while, like you said 98% of the time, my driverside rear door won't work. I keep unlocking and relocking with the fob. Eventually starts working again.

Well mine doesnt even lock or unlock any more. Not even one door. I was hoping the Big Bear trip I went on would shake everything back into place but it didnt. Still nothing. So I went from working 100% of the time to 0%. Never had the 98% problem.

i don't have this issue (earlier model, no power anything) nor did i ever try to solve it, but from this problem being pretty common, this is usually what you have to do :

I did that to both of mine. Going to try plugging my old unit back in and see if the locks start working again.

With mine it is all of them or none of them when it does happen.

My Driver's side was replaced a couple years ago because of the window lock issue. Figured the heck with it and just spend the money. I had that problem before I replaced it though. I have extra passenger side switches. No idea what shape they are in. My understanding is the passenger controls the locks. I was thinking of just throwing another one in and see what happens. Also take one and resolder like in the video.
