I have 2 temp gauges 1 one a new (for me) gauge cluster and a Bosch aftermarket one. The factory one stays just below the red mark while the Bosch stays between 190-200 on my 87 xj 2.5l. I was wondering why the difference is so big, any ideas on how to get the factory one more accurate? The Bosch one was hooked up to a t fitting just before the thermostat housing so it should be fairly accurate, and the factory one supposedly I have the right sending unit (previously wired for dumbie lights) and just plugged it in. Even on startup it goes to 220, doesn't warm up like the Bosch one
With the Jeep cold, test all of the temperature sending units/sensors. They should have the same resistance at the same temperature. That includes the intake air temp sensor. Either the sending unit that's in there is busted or there's a wiring problem.
It's been hot here. Woke up this morning to an XJ that cranks but does not start. Pulled code P0320. Pulled a plug wire and I get no spark so it should be CPS, right?
Ordered a new CPS from Rock Auto so it will be a couple days and I can do a little more trouble shooting in the evening. What should I look at to verify I'm only dealing with CPS failure?

Could be the CKP or the CMP. OBD-II XJs require both to run the engine. Or could be a wiring fault like a crappy connector.
Hoping someone can help me out. Started the jeep up the other day after some work on it to make sure all was good and i noticed a puddle of gasoline near the driver rear tire. Fuel is leaking out while in park haven't checked while under complete pressure when in drive. My thought is it's just the housing for the fuel filter, quick fix. But if anyone has any input or a schematic would be helpful.
That fuel filter looks like it was around during the Roman Empire. It could be the original filter. Even if it is not what's leaking. I would replace that thing. Cheap, simple, quick job.
Edit: those bump stops look like they've seen better days too. lol.
Yeah it has seen some better days. Never an issue until i parked it to do some much needed work this summer. Awesome just wanted to double check before doing it myself. Thanks!

oh yeah they have. Entire suspension is getting reworked in a couple weeks anyways. Doing a 3inch lift and 31s for now. So its all getting re-done!

That's great lift combo, a lot of people start out with that. I think you will be pretty happy. I'm on 4.5" and 32s myself. I happy with that. Don't forget you can start your own build thread in the Jeep builds section. It sort of becomes a journal/blog about your journey through building your Jeep.

Oh yeah I plan on doing that. Going to be doing a lot of work to the jeep before September rolls around. Possibly moving to Minnesota so wanna get this done before that. Also i know about half of what i'm doing when it comes down to the lift and what not. Helped my step dad put this together for the last 3-4 years. Learned a lot from him even though it's not a cherokee.
Geeez, that's in VA? Ain't much life left in that body.
You guys are going to want to spray some rust inhibitor inside the frame stills before they fall apart.
That bad huh? Damn... I can't win with this. Almost ready to just start over. No other section is nearly this bad as far as I could see. If I can cut all this back and there isn't rust perforated into the frame area, can welding new metal save it?

Edit: That's one clean ride! I like it!
Wow, that's a badass Jeep. Make yourself at home here. You will find a lot of knowledgeable people. I'm learning new stuff everyday and I love it.

I will for sure. Its been super helpful in the last two years anyways since i bought the jeep with some of the issues it had! And yeah its pretty bad ***. Could you believe hes still running stock axles with those 38s. His theory is he wont replace it until it breaks. But he has a new set of axles ready to go when it does though.
