Update: Seems the rough idle and sputtering have worked themselves out. Only issue now is that the check engine light is still on and the shifting while in drive is goofy. Could this be caused by incorrect fluid level?

Stalled out 3 times at traffic lights this far. Shifting is jumpy when I'm driving slow. I've put in Valvoline dex/merc. Dude at auto zone said I should be putting ATF+4. Idk what to do anymore.

atf +4 isn't right, dex/merc is. did you get the codes read? They do it for free at the auto parts store, and you check with it idling and in neutral.

Apparently It's illegal to get your code read in Cali unless at an auto shop. So now I'm at meineke getting the code.

well he should be able to read all 3 if it's a real shop, but the p0351 is coil rail malfunction. That would explains running rough (misfiring so it runs crappy)

that's 3 coil errors. 3 cylinders misfiring probably which is why it would run like garbage. New coil pack I guess? Not sure.

BTW cruiser, i will take note to simply listen to your advice that i read in multiple places next time. dropping the pan to change a filter with almost nothing in it was NOT worth my time nor the $100 it took to pay someone else to plug two connectors back together for me
