Need some help from vacuum experts: So I was told I could get my selector switches working again but that cruise wouldn't work anymore...I'd have way too many speeding tickets if I didn't have cruise, so I don't really want to do that. I tried getting my battery tray out once, to maybe repair or reattach hoses but most of the bolts were rusted in there really good and just broke off the nut and spun. Is there a way to just spice in a vacuum storage container somewhere else? Should I just rip out the battery tray and get a new/used one, or is there a way to cap the lines so I get both?

It doesn't really matter where the vacuum reservoir is, but you will need one somewhere for your cruise control.

Default Transfer case not engaging my sensor to turn on (part-time)light

My 4wheel drive sensor on the transfer case only works when i physically push the ball in on the sensor. The light works,4wheel drive works, and the sensor seems to work but when i engage the 4wheel drive the light doesn`t come on. I can only get it to work if i take the sensor out and push the ball in. I have had the jeep for 3 years and its always bothered me. Have any idea what the problem would be? The sensor can`t be tightened down any further?

Just out of curiosity, how many reading this run some sort of transfer case/belly skid?

Morning guys,

Would one of you be so kind as to guide me to a troubleshooting guide for my cruise control?
My tank under the battery is there and connected, and the sensor on the speedometer cable is there.
Anything in particular I should check first?

Third post on the matter

99 4.0l ax15

problem: stuttering/ hesitation, similar to misfire, wants to stall, bucking, sometimes hard to start or keep running when the symptoms pop up.

check engine code p1391 (Intermittent Loss of CMP or CKP Loss of the Cam Position Sensor or Crank Position sensor has occurred)

new- less than 500 miles- some less than 2 miles run time
mopar CPS for manual trans
IAC-oem, cleaned a couple months ago
TPS- mopar/no change
champion plugs
duralast gold wires
napa coil
battery
every ground wire is new bigger wire/ refreshed
front o2 sensor
catalytic convertor temporarily removed, no change.
bosch fuel pump and new fuel filters
distributor/cap/rotor/camshaft sensor
coolant sensor on thermostat

Jeep dealer assures me it is the crank sensor "some mopar parts are now reboxed chinese parts" so I have a Standard brand made in mexico CPS to try. This will be the 5th one I put in this jeep in the past few months.

My next two ideas are to put in the spare automatic wiring harness I have to see if it will run normal, and to drop the trans to see if the flywheel ring where the crank sensor gets its reading from is damaged or corroded.
I also bought a compression tester so I will check that out asap.

anyone have any other ideas? I haven't received (almost)any feedback from the previous two posts, should I start a new thread?

Move the reservoir to the engine bay and eliminate all the crappy hoses and piping that currently go behind the bumper.

Default transmission issues

I have a 1989 with a aw4 trans and when I start it and put it into gear it only works for 15 to sec to a couple of mins then I lose everything. that's all forward and reverse gears. I have changed the fluid and filter with no change. any input would be great .

Tried to fix the rattling coming from under my 2000 sport but no go. Replaced the shock bushings. Still the noise.

In the video Im shifting slowly from P --> R --> N --> D --> 3 --> 12

The noise doesnt start until drive but is only there when the jeep is in drive 3 or 12

Thanks in advance!

I'd start by tracing your exhaust from the manifold all the way back to the tip. Sounds like it's rattling against something. Common culprits include:
Downpipe - Front driveshaft
Cat/exhaust - transmission crossmember
Tailpipe/tip - leaf spring/gas tank/anything else it might touch after bending

Is there a way to "fix" a seized caliper or am I better off getting new ones?
