Yeah I thought I heard about it on here somewhere. Although I'm still not sure about it. My downpipe is beat up for some reason, so a replacement is warranted, otherwise I would just keep it.

 

Lol they're beat up from the factory. The dent is to increase exhaust pressure so the cat lights off sooner.

 

I thought it's because to clear the driveshaft?

 

A lot of people do.

Aside from getting that from the horse's mouth, if the DS presented an issue the exhaust would be routed differently. Performance loss is only acceptable when emissions are in play

True facts

 

I have a small oil leak at the front of the oil pan where it joins to the timing chain cover..I keep tightening the screws but think they are the wrong screws..the ones in there now look like I/2 in. sheetmetal screws..don't seem rite to me..also when I tighten them up they start to slip at about 3 ft lb of torque..thanks for reading

 

Sounds like somebody may have stripped the threads and made a "custom" fix. You'll have to drop the oil pan to fix the leak, and that would be a good opportunity to see what they've done

 

Mines bent from the bottom and leaking at the flange. Still don't like the dent though. Wonder if taking it out would throw a code.

Pulled the radio out and saw an unused plug behind it. What's it for?

 

I recently changed the exhaust manifold on my 97 grand Cherokee limited. Now I have a miss. Idles bad and sounds like it drops a cylinder until revs pic up a bit also has a bit of a back fire some times. Any ideas please

 

Did you use a new gasket and torque the bolts to spec?

 

No I put exhaust gasket sealant on the gasket. Do u think it could just be the gasket leaking am about to remove it all and replace gasket and exhaust manifold with another one.

 

That's where I'd start, but I'm no engine expert and I suck at everything

 

Thanks ill try it and see what happens. Was thinking it was a vacuum leak or a clogged injector
