I recently overload my gutter mount roof racks (I think, not totally sure what happened) and they failed, mangling the trim on the driver-side gutter.

I'm wondering if there is anywhere I can get a new piece of trim? It looks like the factory set up is glued on.

Any other advice or insight it appreciated.

This is what comes to mind any time someone says "...the gutter mounts are stronger than the roof rails, use the gutter mounts."

I do remember making sure the fill plug came loose.

Well, I did a bunch of work on son's XJ, and couldn't remember. Thought came to me that I comented to myself that the TC fluid was about as dark as the trans fluid.

Hey, don't laugh, at least I survived the 70s and 80s.

I always liked this idea better. Although I'd just put a switch under the steering wheel or something.

I don't wanna remove the switches. I do plan on putting it on a switch. I just don't have time to do it this afternoon nor do I have the switch yet (waiting on brown santa for the switch and my new door connectors).

I like the bypass switch, but.... ya know.... $$$$

I THOUGHT bout trying to figure out a way to incorporate the map lights into a rear hatch light that has the bypass switch in it and then install it in place of the current overhead light... of course, I don't know if it would actually work to bypass the light, but I haven't really gotten that far either.

I believe there is a difference in construction between -1996 and 1997+.
Drip edges are glued on or spot welded, on the 97+
Full-size roof racks should have three gutter mounts per side. In Australia they have issues like this due to all the weight on roof and the 1000km washboard roads.

Is it the 24-hour kind, the 1-hour kind, or the 1-minute kind?

It was red versachem. 24 hour. Filled it up after about 4. Hope it doesn't leak but if it does I'll get some of the ultra black and redo it. Was in an unexpected hurry. Dont like to rush things but it had to be done.

Shouldn't leak, unless you fully tightened cover while RTV was still fresh.

Default Fox shock valving??

It's about time for me to replace my shocks and I am leaning towards fox 2.0 reservoirs for my 8in coils up front. I want to make sure If I am spending the extra cash that I valve it the right way. Also should I order the shocks with the stock upper stud mount or would the eye to stud conversion be a better route to go as far as mounting. I am running rusty coils up front. Any input will be much appreciated!
