Haha thanks, man. My buddy was explaining electrical to me, and I asked him if that was right. He just stared at me

anyone ever use both rubber and polyurethane bushings on their brown dog motor mounts? which ones did you prefer? and what would you recommend for south texas weather? hot and humid summers with mild winters.

So sitting inside my jeep i can hear what sounds like my transmission is brewing coffee. It makes that light thumpy knocking kinda sound. If i put my hand on the floor over the trans i can feel it. It happens in all gears except drive. Im being cautious and thinking "yanno maybe the exhaust is tapping something" When i crawl under the engine noise is too loud to really trace where the sound is coming from. Ideas as to what i should look at? Or am i boned and my trans is about to explode.

Man you have some weird coffee makers in Maryland if they make light thumpy knocking kinda sounds...

Made for pinpointing noises. Dirt cheap at Harbor Freight. This weekend probably like $3 or something lol

Your transmission has the right amount of fluid in it yes?

yes, it has a 1/4 quart extra actually because of the slow leak...

But it makes a bubble/churning sound and a thump sound after the bubble

Dumb question, but have you checked your universal joints?

Finishing up brake line replacement today. For my axle hard lines, I wrapped them in 3/16 fuel line for protection. Will this be alright?

Default 93 starts but doesnt run.. PCM whines?

My jeep sometimes decides it doesn't want to run.. This has been going on for a couple months now. Sometimes it would start strong, then die while RPMs drop to idle speed, and other times it would start/run/drive as usual. Now it won't run at all. On board diagnostics throws codes 12(battery disconnected, duh), 33(a/c code but I deleted my a/c years ago), and 55 to end code reading.. Distributor, cap, and wires were replaced a year ago and look fine. Plugs replaced a couple weeks ago and I have confirmed spark. Battery is good. Alternator was replaced a year ago but some interior lights are randomly coming on when key is in "on" position. IAC and throttle body removed, cleaned/inspected and reinstalled. Bypassed fuel ballast resistor, problem remains. Cleaned vacuum lines.

I have not checked fuel pressure yet, but in doing all this I have noticed that my PCM is making a high-pitched whining noise with the key in the "on" position. Has anyone heard of this being a sign of a PCM that needs to be replaced?

Where is the leak? Somewhere that air can get in? Has it leaked for a long time - as in has air been sneaking into your transmission for a long time? Drain the excess fluid and see if the noise stops. I don't know much about automatics but having the right fluid level in most hydraulic systems is pretty important, unless there's an external reservoir.

I just keep reading this as an "**** screwdriver" that is long lmao

Correct. Your transmission would have to have wildly varying output to flap U joints at a standstill.

Is your exhaust touching the crossmember? Time for that stethescope eh

Only thought I have is whether that wrapping will trap moisture and accelerate rust.

Not unless you have a LOT of seam sealer on there. What kind of balancing did you have done? Some tires are really hard to balance and junk like WalMart aren't up to the task
