Tubing cutter is the only way to go never use a grinder of any kind on a fluid line.

There are small tube cutters, 2" long.
Otherwise, remove the line enough to get at it.

No it's got a 6.5 lift and even with stands on 8 inch tall wooden blocks can't get the wheels off the ground from the unibody.

Any tips on putting axles back in vacuum actuated front D30? I pulled them to replace some parts. Do I need to just push back in then install the hubs? Also when I pulled the passenger short side axle some fluid came out. Is this normal?

Got a couple oil questions/myths i need answered/debunked. After reading Salads wonderful oil write up 3 times over a week, i decided: The oil in my jeep isn't sufficient (Castrol GTX), i want to replace it, and winter is coming and im stuck in a middle ground. I want to run Rotella 15-40 but its just going to get cold in 1 month.

Questions:
I hear almost every day at work(parts store) from the "mechanics" that you CANNOT switch back to regular oil after you switch to synthetic. Any truth there?

Does switching to synthetic really cause every old seal everywhere to just leak all over the place?

Whats a good mileage point to switch to synthetic in these engines, if ever?

Im just asking all this so i can find a good oil to switch to before winter gets here, and to get 400,000 miles out of my jeep. I was thinking Rotella T6.

Please don't start a religious oil crusade from this post.

Default Switching to Intermittent Wipers

How do I switch from 2-speed wipers on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport to intermittent? Is it as simple as replacing just the wiper switch, or are there other parts that must be added? Thanks!

I'll bet the starter is thrashed. Spins great but binds/knocks under a load.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between 97+ 2-door and 4-door rear seats? I'd like to think that every back seat in an XJ is pretty much the same, but I don't want to assume. I'm looking at ordering replacement seat covers and want to make sure the rear seat in my 2000 4-door will match the fabric I get if I order a set for a 98 2-door (short back with headrest), which is what my front seats are out of.

Doo eet. Get something with a low startup viscosity. In the API tests 5w is 5w no matter what the other number is. If you check your owner's manual you'll see that's what's called for.

The whole "can't switch back from synthetic" is such a load of horse ****. It's engine oil, not a high school girlfriend. Don't like one, switch it up.

I am searching for a shop to work on my XJ while I'm gone for a while.

Is there any way I can convey the message to a shop that I don't want them to screw me over?

I will come back for more work just not if you screw me over. I am really running out of somewhat reputable shops in a 30 mile radius.

Or am I doomed to put things on hold forever?

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a fully-lockable limited slip differential? I've heard about them from various people although I have never been able to find anything related to it online. Usually hear someone's had a limited slip put inside a locker or something like that. Is it an actual thing?
