XJ Ask the Question Thread
Don't know about stroker motors, but if you can find a '85 or older AMC motor that would be a start, maybe in some of the bone yards in Eastern Pa. There was a fellow living in Easter Tenn that know a whole lot about AMC's he has a couple of them, don't know how to get a hold of him, the site he was on went down the tubes {AMC Eaglenest.com) If I find out anything I'll get back to you

I just had a usual experience with the dealership (they tried to rape me in my sleep), and had the waterpump, thermostat (220 or 210), and upper + lower radiator hoses done. Just visited them today and named 2 of the couple things that they did wrong and told them I will not be returning for uncompleted work, politely as possible.
Will try burping when I get to the house, I have a nice incline I can park on and pump the hose.

assuming the guage is accurate, what would cause overheating? Incorrect ratio of coolant and water? I just added some mix to the reservoir.

If while driving, it has to do with coolant flow and/or air flow. Passages in the radiator can become blocked (common), and block passages could be restricted.
Fins on radiator and condenser get blocked with bugs and grit/sand, limiting airflow. I blast them with compressed air occasionally, from the inside out.
Have to cover ALL the bases when it come to this cooling system.lol

If it's heating up while idling, likely the fan clutch.

I was thinking fan clutch but hoping not. Thanks for advice I will blow out my radiator as well.
If it is the fan clutch I will lean toward / look into electric fan swap.
I will have to research the 180 tstat.

When you guys install any aftermarket gauges, what wire are you tapping into under the dash for key-on power? Also, what wire would one tap into for a light source as well? I'll be using L.E.D.s for low power usage.
i tossed the radio out so I have plenty of power sources using radio circuits. If I recall correctly. There's two constant power wires and two key-on power wires. But that's on my 99, I'm not sure about your 91
