I feel like I spend way too much time in this thread..
ANOTHER cooling system question. I replaced the thermostat housing, thermostat, and upper and lower radiator hoses last night. I know it's pretty much impossible to get all of the water out of the system but I'm thinking I had to get as much out of it as anyone possibly could! Everyone always says put the 6 quarts of antifreeze in then top it off with water so it will be 50/50. I assumed there HAD to be less than a gallon of water in there so I planned to put a gallon of antifreeze, a gallon of 50/50 and top it off with distilled water. I was hoping to use as much distilled water as possible.. Anyway so I put the gallon of antifreeze in then I can only get half of the 50/50 in. I parked it on an incline, ran the engine while filling it, squeeze the upper hose to get as much air out as possible. Was there still that much water in the system after pulling off all of the hoses? I've only driven it for 15 or so miles so I'm guessing some more air is going to work it's way out but I can't imagine it's too much. Does a good amount of water stay in the heater core? This is frustrating.

Ok so for a little but now my truck a 94 cherokee HO has been giving me a problem, the truck will start up and idle fine, i'll put into drive and take off driving get to a red light or stop sign, the idle will come back down to normal and when i go to accelerate from a dead stop it sputters and chokes it self out. Took it to my mechanic and he said it was just a loose battery cable and cleaned my terminals and it didnt have the desired effect(im reluctant to waste money with him) . Any ideas? Im thinking its fuel related but am not sure. Any insight would be appreciated.

The cooling journals in the engine hold alot unless you remove the drain plug on the left side of the block. I couldn't remove mine. I ended up with a coolant mixture good for around -10 but drained 1/2 gal off and added pure coolant when our temps got too close for comfort. SUPPOSEDLY a 50/50 mix in a 4.0 is good for -34F. Might want to check your rating before doing anything more.

Need a new leak detection pump. Stealer wanted $152. Found it on Mopar parts overstock for $137 shipped. Anyone know a cheaper site before I place the order? Everything keeps popping up for the grand cherokee...

Doesn't look like it, I have seen quite a few Cherokees with same thing. Probably security but not aftermarket.
Why does it blink when I'm driving but stop if I turn on the dome?

What is it used for? Not familiar with what you are referring to. I just had my AC 'leak detected'.

I think I read that the 97-01 models have them. Kind of a pia to read up on. People post problems with them but not too much info about resolution.
