XJ Ask the Question Thread
Probably more experienced people would know... But could the transfer case be stuck in 4h? Isn't that an issue of the 242? Also, could he have a front locker and not know it?

I had my t case stuck in 4h once, when i slowed down in the tar road i could hear it whining down; went onto a snowy backroad with it in and took it out when i got back on tar and it came out. Not sure why it happened though...??
Hey Everyone,
My 99 XJ started having an idling issue 2 days ago after starting it cold. If I held the gas down a bit when starting, it would be fine after about 10 seconds.
Now, it won't start at all. Shut it off to run inside my house real fast, came out and all I am getting is clicking noises and the words "no bus" across my odometer. Brand new battery and the jeep still has full power everywhere else, electronically. Any idea what is the issue?

Does anyone know what this is? it is coming out of the headliner right behind the review mirror of a 2000 limited. is it for the temp gauge? can i put it back in the head liner or does it have to hang out like that?

I've never seen that. I presume it has to do with the temp gauge, and therefore I presume it can be tucked into the headliner. I may be wrong.

I am intruigued by this thingy
Salad, I also have a wire running from the battery that has a fuse on it, to the front of the jeep with what looks like a switch so when the hood is closed it completes the circuit. Than it goes into the cab drivers side into a on/off switch (its on the on position to afraid to turn it to the off). Could this be like a auto start that someone put in maybe that thingy is the receiver for it?

That is some scary-*** homebrew voodoo **** right there. Impossible to tell from here. Going to have to find out where the rest of the wires go.
Maybe some anti-theft thingy

ok, if you are sure its not the temp gauge i will back track the wires and see where everything goes... and try and see if i can pull or see where the plastic thing is in the headliner... than come back and maybe i will have m ore info for you to figure out what it is...
