97' 4.0L was going to swap the spark plugs out but then thought about getting some engine cleaner so I put my battery connector back on and gave my engine a crank, didn't want to start, looked back inside and realized I had left the wire to the cylinder 1 unplugged to the spark plug so I connected back on but it won't start now, I have full battery power, have fuel, I know there is spark since I had spark and running great before. Is this just a flooded cylinder or did I screw the timing up?

Lol nothing got wet, all I did was unplug the battery and unplug the wire to the 1st cylinder spark plug before changing my mind to wanting to clean the engine bay so i I plugged the battery back in and gave it a crank, totally had forgotten to plug the wire back on to the spark plug. Now it turns over on the starter but nothing is firing.
So far I have proper voltage, fuel, spark, starter is turning it over. ?????? Did the 1st cylinder flood with gas and make it not want to start? Or did I some how throw the timing off by not having the 1st cylinder fire like it should? I'm lost at this point

Now I understand.
This late model stuff is a bit out of my league. Check coil connections, anything you mighta bumped. Start unplugging connectors at distributor, coil, TPS etc and try again.

If you swap components, I think '91-01 will work, up to '06 in a Wrangler.
I'm far from an engine expert.

I believe that's right. At least the head will bolt right onto those blocks and all the sensors will work.
Where are you in GA?

Kinda weird question, friend just got a 95 Dakota with a 2.5 in it. It looks just like the 2.5 in the Cherokee, could he swap in a 4.0? Its a 5 speed if the matters.

Anybody got an idea for mine? Lol I'm so lost since everything was working top shape and just after leaving the 1st cylinder spark plug off, it doesn't want to start any more?
