Quote: Hello just got a 1990 Cherokee Lerado seeing if anyone can tell me about the specs on the jeep is there a site that breaks down info on options? Thanks much!
Laredo means chrome everywhere. Everything else on XJs is an option. There's no standard.

I bought mine with a rod knock, drove it 10k miles that way,I put 85-140 weight in the crank case, lots of people think I'm nuts or don't believe me, but it worked, summer only though.

How much should my voltage drop with my AC running? I usually have the fan on 4. its a 99.

I just ask because my defrost does the same thing when the fans on 4. I'm wondering if I should get the 130a alt and upgrade my cables.

I would upgrade the cables regardless. Wait on the alternator.

Quote: I am going to replace the gear oil in both the front and rear difs on my truck. What weight gear oil should I use? I have 180,xxx miles on the Jeep and mainly daily driven.
Take the time to remove the diff covers and clean the inside well.. Putting it back together use RTV or purchase a gasket- your choice. I suggest using 75-140W in the REAR, fully synthetic. I personally like valvoline. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/218L9gzkziL.jpg

True. I need new battery terminals anyways. I do have a 130a in my 91 that I put in there when it was my DD. Maybe I'll swap that over to my 99. That would work right?

Quote: Iirc the 97+ was all HO. Only things that changed was the exhaust manifold and they eventually went distributerless in later year modeled after 97. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
x2.
Although I think the distributer-less models started in 99, also in 99+ they started doing the pre-cats.

I guess I should read all the posts first....seems this was answered multiple times. Dang! just when I thought I had some good info to add.

00-01 is where pre cats and coil packs start. There could be some 99s out there like that. But I've never seen em.

I have a 99. No coil pack, no pre cats.

I love my precats. I believe 01s have dual precat and 00 have single. I didn't get a chance to climb under mines yet but I hope I dont have 6 o2.

2000 model year started assembly in mid-late 1999. California emissions package included 2 mini cats, 1 main cat, and 4 O2 sensors (around the mini cats).

+1 look at cable replacement. The XJ's electrical system is so undersized its not funny. Another fantastic aspect of cable corrosion is that it will continue past the visible area, creeping up into the jacketing. Broken and corroded conductors in a stranded cable reduce it's capacity.

: wooh: ok just checking. Wasn't sure if the downstream cat had 2 o2 sensor or not.

So when I order from rock auto I need 2 upstream rear sensor s. Already did the front ones last year

OK. So that's why you say cables no matter what wait on the alt because crappy cables could be draining my power. Make sense.

I need to put some funds on a Walmart money card.... lol
