XJ Ask the Question Thread
Maybe I'm not being descriptive enough. I know I need a longer threaded portion to the center pin. The hole in the SHIM is drilled out to match the HEAD of the center pin, which matches the size of the hole in the spring perch. I have seen some available places but they seem to be too short (I found one but it's only 3.5" total pin length but had a longer head)

Does that make sense? Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Oh okay, the head itself was longer? I guess it just wouldn't pass through the shim & grab the perch enough for them to mount safely with the stock one. I wasn't sure how special of an order part it is, as it's hard to find that spec anywhere I see. Does this mean I'll actually have to go to a store and ask questions?! UGH!

I tried it and sent it back to CJ Tatton for the hack n tap option.
Seems the spline interface has minor 'play'. And that heavy double-cardon joint sits even farther from the transfer case than a hack n tap.

Jegs.com has pairs for $6 with free shipping on everything. I have looked for center pins recently and Jegs had the best selection and price.

Good if you want to minimize but not eliminate drive-line vibrations..

Not a bad idea. What's ideal engagement on that? 3 inches? *that's what she said* After shimming my axle, maybe i"ll see what I'm at engagement wise.
